Amy Johnson is the first woman to fly solo to Australia. She flew the 11,000 miles from Croydon to Darwin in a De Havilland Gipsy Moth named Jason and won the Harmon Trophy as well as a CBE for her achievement. She went on to break a number of other flying records, and died while serving in the Air Transport Auxiliary in 1941.Art and science

Sir Malcolm Robertson and his wife were returning from Argentina where he had been Britain's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotiary to the Republic of Argentina. It is curious that they are both depicted as small when he was nearly six foot tall. He became a privy councillor and was head of the British Council from 1941-45, and chairman of Spillers from 1930-47.
