Monumental in scale, closely cropped, and set against a dark background, this charged portrait of King Charles III suggests an intense expression of both regal composure and human vulnerability. The portrait speaks of the then Prince of Wales’s predicament, the longest serving heir in British history trapped in his wait to ascend to the British throne. This image was published as the cover of the 4 November 2013 issue of TIME magazine, with the title ‘The Forgotten Prince’.
