Sir Stafford Cripps represents the miners of Gresford Colliery in Wrexham at an inquiry into the recent gas explosion and fire which killed 263 miners, and three rescue workers in one of the worst mining disasters in British history.

Percy Shaw invents 'Cat's eyes'. The development of road reflectors increased safety on the roads at night and proved to be particularly useful during the wartime blackout. They are still used today.

I don't believe that the woman identified as "Posy" in this whole album is Mrs. Kenelm Lee Guinness. In my research for a book on Lord Moyne's voyages I have discovered evidence that suggests she is Comtesse Phyllis de Janzé (née Boyd).

First: I have viewed the visitor book of the yacht Rosaura and it identifies the guests for this voyage (26 September - 26 October, 1934) around the Mediterranean as: "Mr. and Mrs. Winston Churchill and Madame de Janzé." The visitor book is owned by one of Lord Moyne's grandchildren.

Second: Clementine Churchill sailed with Lord Moyne to SE Asia (Dec. 1934 - May 1935) and writes Winston from Rosaura on 22 December 1934, introducing Posy Guinness (a companion on this voyage) to him -- something that would not be needed had Winston met her on the previous voyage.

Thirdly: The woman pictured matches your other portraits of Madame de Janzé in your collection.
