The plate was described in the September issue of the magazine:
Morning Visiting Dress. Pink barage robe, the corsage, high at the back, with a lappel opening very much upon the bosom, displays an embroidered cambric chemisette, made quite up to the throat; the lappel is bordered with a ribbon trimming à la vielle. Long tight sleeve, ornamented at top and bottom with a similar trimming. Two rows of this garniture, with fancy silk buttons between, decorates the front of the skirt. Rice-straw chapeau, a small, round, and close shape, trimmed with white ribbon, and a long white ostrich feather.
Demi-Toilet. Light blue poult de soie robe; the corsage not quite half high, is round at top, and a little pointed at bottom; it is made with a heart lappel, the centre and sides of which are ornamented with fancy silk trimming. Demi-long sleeve, with a garniture en suite. The skirt is trimmed with two flounces, each bordered with fancy silk trimming. Head-dress of hair decorated with an intermixture of lace and ribbon.

George Hudson, the first great railway entrepreneur, who controlled over 1,000 miles of railway track and whose enterprises made York a major commercial and transport hub, becomes known as 'the Railway King'.
