This portrait of Chi Onwurah MP, the Labour Member of Parliament for Newcastle-on-Tyne Central, was produced for '209 Women', an all-female photography initiative to mark 100 years since the first election in which women could vote. Tereza Cervenová, whose work focuses on themes of democracy and identity, was one of 209 female photographers selected to make new portraits of the UK’s 209 women MPs. She depicts Onwurah, Newcastle’s first black MP, wearing the black and white colours of Newcastle United Football Club and looking out from the old Palace of Westminster.
