Sir Barrie was arrested and interned for the duration of the 2nd World War against Germany for his well known Hitlerite stance. After the war, he was unrepentant and continued to espouse the Nazi ideology and for membership of extreme organisations including the Anglo German Fellowship and The Link, Right Club. His son Compton was the youngest person to be interned at 16 years old for supporting the Nazis. He published a book post war about his experiences and remained in touch with extremist groups until his death.
