Who was the father of Sir Mohammad Rafique? Any relationship with Khan Bahadur Mohd Elahi Bux?
I found a hand written family tree from my grand father (Nana) where he shows Sir Rafiq as his grand uncle along with Mohd Akram, Magistrate Deoband also a grand uncle.

I am one of the archivists at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School. Before reorganisation in 1974 we had boarders. One was Sir John Hurt, but that is another story. Our aim is to find out what happened to the boarders after their time in Lincoln, especially what careers they followed.

Our records show that Sir Muhammad Rafiq's son, Ahmed Rafiq, was a boarder at the then Lincoln Grammar School for eleven months. His name is listed on the census return of 1911. We have seen photos of him after he left Lincoln because he was in football and cricket teams at Ipswich School, and we know that he returned to India in October 1914 after a short period of time at St John's College, Cambridge.

The information about Ahmed Rafiq joining the police and becoming superintendent in Hyderabad is very exciting. To complete the story, I wonder whether there are any family pictures of Ahmed Rafique as an adult, perhaps in uniform, which might be shared

Replying to Sarah Beg
I am extremely happy to see your note here.
Sir Mohammad Rafique was my maternal grand uncle. My mother Anwar Jehan Begum was the daughter of Mohammad Hamid, younger brother of Sir Mohammad Rafique. I do have the original 'Shajrah' as well as original old pics of the family.

My name is Sarah Beg. Ahmed Rafique was my mother’s maternal uncle. He had two sisters, Muhammad Zamani Begum and Ahmed Zamani Begum (my mother’s mother). These three were brought up by their father, Sir Muhammad Rafique's sister, Imatul Fatima, as their mother died while my grandmother Ahmed Zamani was either an infant or a young child. All this information I have checked with my mother Shirin, Ahmed Zamani’s youngest daughter who is alive and living in Lahore, aged 82.
She tells me that her uncle Ahmed Rafique was married to a lady called Nusrat Zamani Begum, from a family of Delhi. Ahmed Rafique spent his working career in the service of the ruler of Hyderabad Deccan state, in his police service, as a superintendent. He retired and settled in Lahore, Pakistan after the partition of India and is buried there.
The info that I need and don’t have is the name of Ahmed Rafique’s (and his two sister’s) mother, i.e Sir Muhammad Rafique’s wife and my mother’s maternal grandmother. All I know is that she was from the aristocratic family of Pataudi, and was the paternal aunt of Nawab Ibrahim Ali Khan of Pataudi, the father of Iftikhar Ali Khan and Sher Ali Khan.
It would be so nice if I can tell my mother the name of her grandmother who died young, so I would really appreciate it if someone has some credible info. Also any pictures of my great grandfather, Sir Muhammad Rafique or any other family member would be greatly appreciated.

Sir Muhammad Rafiq belonged to an aristocratic family in Delhi. Apart from being member of the British Council, he was a highly respected barrister. I have some original photographs of him taken in Vienna as well as in Allahabad India where he was a judge at the high Court.
