This self-portrait, entitled Humument Self-portrait at Fifty, relates to this multi-volume metamorphosis of W.H. Mallock's Victorian novel A Human Document, in which the original text was overlaid with illustrations printed by lithography, screenprint and letterpress. This print is a version of a portrait in gouache and pen which is also in the Gallery's collection.
