When Craig was photographed by Brandt in the 1950s his minimal designs, which were formally thought of as too advanced in England, were beginning to have substantial influence. Photographed in Vence, South of France where Craig lived in the last years of his life.

Robert Anthony Eden becomes prime minister. In May 1955 Winston Churchill resigned due to ill health. His successor proved to be a similarly popular leader, winning an increased majority at the general election that year.
