The drawings are from a collection of about 150 sketchbooks, drawings, studies for portraits and manuscripts which has descended in the family from Artaud's sister Catherine who married Wager Tayler; their descendant, Kenneth Tayler ARIBA, entrusted the collection to A. C. Sewter in 1971 to be distributed among various museums and galleries; a miniature of Artaud aged 14 was offered to the V & A Museum, the two drawings 4862 and 4863 to the NPG.
