Baird family at Fern Tower, Crieff; Lieut.-Commander Evelyn Culme-Seymour, RN, from whom bought by the NPG in 1928. The vendor believed it to be by Raeburn but the attribution to Watson-Gordon, which seems reasonable, was put forward by James Caw, Director of the National Gallery of Scotland (letter 20 June 1928 in registered packet in NPG archive 2195).
