Whole-length standing in profile to left aged about 40, black frock-coat with dark blue collar and neckcloth to match, light yellow gloves, black top-hat in left hand, cane in right, black trousers and pointed shoes with bows; brown curly hair (or wig), bushy whiskers, hooked nose, dark eyes.

A. D. Kettle and bought from him 1911 - 'It came into my hands a few weeks back at a private sale' (letter in registered packet in NPG archive).
