Incised on the truncation: P. ROUW/SCULP^R LONDON 1803; the original backing paper inscribed in ink, probably by the artist: A Portrait of the/late Duke of Bridgewater//Peter Rouw/Sculptor/Portland Road/London/1803//Published as the Act Directs.<sup>1
