The bust was bought together with several other plaster busts or casts by Adams and a marble bust of Sir William Napier (NPG 1197); they were accompanied by a letter from Mrs Adams and 'Catalogue of Medals and Sculpture by Geo. G. Adams, Acton Green Lodge, Chiswick' (both in NPG archive). It was lent to the House of Lords in about 1912 and destroyed by enemy action in 1940. A marble copy, exhibited RA 1871 (1210) and belonging to the Corporation of London, was in the Council Chamber of the Guildhall and also destroyed in 1940.
