Campbell is in court dress. The early provenance of the picture is unknown. It was engraved by W. Walker, and published by him, 1851 (example in NPG).

Physical descriptionback to top

Healthy complexion, greyish-blue eyes, brown hair. Dressed in a white shirt, with a frill, and frilled cuffs, black court dress, wearing a court sword with a silver hilt. Resting one hand on a white piece of paper(?), on a brown table. Pilaster at left and rest of background various shades of brown.
