The bust was commissioned in 1827 and payment of £200 made on 15 August 1828 (Sir Francis Chantrey’s Ledgers of Accounts, p 189). The plaster model is Ashmolean Museum but the marble bust, exhibited RA 1828 (1170), is at present untraced, probably sold Caynham Court, Ludlow, c.1941.
