Sir Bruce Ingram (d. 1963) and bought from his executors 1963. It was acquired as Captain Lord Charles Fitzroy of the 1st Foot Guards, 2nd son of 4th Duke of Grafton (1791-1865), who certainly served in both the Peninsula and at Waterloo though how the drawing became identified with him is uncertain. It has no inscription, there is no comparable portrait of him, and there is no mention of his name in the sale of Heaphy's effects, Foster's, 4-5 May 1936, unless he appeared among the ten drawings listed as 'others'. However it is undoubtedly one of the many Heaphy drawings made in the Peninsula shortly after the Battle of Vittoria.
