A copy of the Riley in the Royal Collection, [1] which has been tentatively equated with the portrait mentioned by Queen Anne in a letter of 11 April 1687. [2] Several versions are known, including that at Althorp, with a pendant of Princess Anne, recorded in the Duchess of Marlborough’s collection before 1702; [3] at Gripsholm (1157); Gavno Castle; Cirencester; [4] Middleton Park, [5] and formerly with D. Minlore.
