Healthy complexion, greenish-grey eyes, brown hair and whiskers. Dressed in a dark green stock, white shirt, black coat and waistcoat, gold and amber stock-pin, and gold chain. Background colour dark brown.

The artist; by descent to his son, Colonel Frank Grant, and presented by his sister, Miss Elizabeth Catherine Grant, 1901.
