'The vile caricature' is drawn at the top of a sheet of sketches for Haydon's 'Christ's Entry into Jerusalem'; at the bottom between two pillars is a profile of Keats himself by Haydon. The page is one of two torn from Haydon's Diary by Haydon's son, Frederick Wordsworth Haydon, and acquired by Henry Buxton Forman, the editor of Keats's and Shelley's Works. The other page has a more ambitious drawing of Keats.

Provenanceback to top

B. R. Haydon; Frederick Wordsworth Haydon; Henry Buxton Forman and bought from his son 1945.
