Hobson is wearing the full-dress uniform of a naval commander (1856 pattern), with (from left to right) the Arctic Medal (1818-55), and the Baltic Medal (1854-5).
Physical descriptionback to top
Healthy complexion, dark grey(?) eyes, dark brown hair and whiskers. Dressed in a dark stock, white shirt, and dark blue naval uniform with gilt buttons and epaulettes, and silver medals.
Provenanceback to top
Commissioned or purchased by Lady Franklin, and bequeathed by her niece, Miss Sophia Cracroft, in accordance with the wishes of her aunt, 1892.
