Inglefield is wearing the full-dress uniform of a naval commander (1846 pattern), with (from left to right), the Arctic Medal (1818-55), the Sultan of Turkey's Medal for Syria (1840), and the Naval General Service Medal for Syria (1840).

Healthy complexion, bluish eyes, brown hair and whiskers. Dressed in a dark stock, white shirt, and dark blue naval uniform, with gilt buttons, gold-braided collar and epaulettes, and silver medals with multi-coloured ribbons. Background colour dark grey and white-grey (possibly intended to represent clouds).
