The drawing shows Kenney as an elderly man, probably in the late 1840s. Miss Newmarch also has an oval watercolour drawing showing him as a young man with a wry smile. The Garrick Club has a watercolour drawing possibly by De Wilde, engraved by Heath (1809), for Mrs Inchbald's Collection of Farces.

The Sitter's daughter Virginia (m. the dealer William Cox); her Sister Sophie's son William Jeaffreson; his niece Elizabeth Newmarch who gave it to the NPG 1962.
