Three-quarter-length seated to right in dark brown coat, red waistcoat, black stock; reddish cloak over back of armchair, balustrade and garden in background; grey hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, smiling expression.

Family possession until the sale of effects of a descendant, Dame Ethel Locke King, at Weybridge 1956; bought J. A. Tooth and sold by him to the NPG 1957.
