Two labels in ink removed from back: Peter 7th Lord King/by John Linnell/1830, and Portrait of Lord King/by John Linnell/Porchester Terrace/Bayswater/March 1832, both in registered packet 4020.

Physical descriptionback to top

Three-quarter-length seated to right in dark brown coat, red waistcoat, black stock; reddish cloak over back of armchair, balustrade and garden in background; grey hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, smiling expression.

Provenanceback to top

Family possession until the sale of effects of a descendant, Dame Ethel Locke King, at Weybridge 1956; bought J. A. Tooth and sold by him to the NPG 1957.
