The bust in the RA exhibition of 1898 is described in the catalogue as a marble. Pinker may initially have exhibited a plaster bust in 1888, and only executed the marble in 1898, dating it to the year when the original model was executed; on the other hand, the two RA busts may represent different types. Another version of the NPG bust is in Westminster Abbey, reproduced Country Life, CXXXIX (1966), 778.

Presumably either RA, 1888 (1960), or RA, 1898 (1867).
