The identification and attribution are traditional, but there is no reason to doubt them. Müller is shown as a very young man, so that a comparison with the later bust or miniature by Branwhite is not very helpful.
Physical descriptionback to top
Clear complexion, light grey eyes, brown hair. Dressed in a black neck-tie, white shirt, green waistcoat and light grey check jacket. Holding in one hand a palette with blue, green, red, yellow and white paints, and a paint brush in the other. Background colour greenish-brown.
