William Mulready

The date is based on the apparent age of the sitter, and a comparison with other portraits of him. Another drawing from the same source, supposed to be a self-portrait, is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. It shows a young man, not dissimilar in features from the drawing of Mulready by his brother of 1829, but showing no sign of his distinctively shaped lips and cleft chin.
