Clint painted several portraits of Munden in the early 1820s. One of these, possibly NPG 1283, was exhibited RA 1821 (364); another was engraved in mezzotint by Lupton published 1 May 1822 showing him turned slightly further to the left. Clint's scene from Prince Hoare's Lock and Key is in the Garrick Club with Munden as 'Old Brummagen', exhibited RA 1821 (273) and engraved in mezzotint by Lupton 1824. A scene from Massinger's A New Way to Pay Old Debts also in the Garrick was exhibited RA 1820 (311), with Edmund Kean in his famous part as 'Sir Giles Overreach'. The NPG portrait probably shows Munden shortly before his retirement in 1824. An enamel copy by Higham was exhibited RA 1825 (710).
