Inscribed in pencil on a label lower left: Sir George Murray and stamped on verso with Sir Bruce Ingram's collector's mark, a capital I in an octagon.

Physical descriptionback to top

Three-quarter-length head only finished in watercolour, green-blue eyes, dark hair and whiskers, fresh complexion; uniform sketched in pencil, Peninsula Cross, Ribbon and Star of KCB, plumed hat in right hand; background head painted in two shades of grey wash.

Provenanceback to top

Sir Bruce Ingram; Colnaghi and bought from them in 1963. Though from a different source this drawing is probably part of the collection made by Heaphy in 1813.
