This painting was engraved by H. Robinson, published A. Whitcombe, Cheltenham, and Colnaghi, 1849 (example in NPG); according to the inscription on the engraving, the original was executed in Cheltenham in March 1849. It is not connected with the 1853 portrait of Napier by Williams.
Physical descriptionback to top
Brown eyes, greyish hair and whiskers. Dressed in a dark neck-tie, white shirt, yellowish waistcoat and dark brown coat (last two unfinished). Seated at a table, holding a quill pen. Background colour white and yellow (unfinished).
