The star on Napier's chest is that of the Bath. The NPG bust is presumably related to the marble bust of Napier by Adams of 1853, exhibited RA, 1854 (1506), and Victorian Era Exhibition, 1897, 'History Section' (783), to the miniature bronze cast of 1853 in the Scottish NPG, and to the colossal bust exhibited RA, 1855 (1844).
