The drawing relates closely to no other known portrait and may have been done by Brockedon ad vivum, with the addition of a plentiful supply of curly hair. It is accompanied in the Brockedon Album by a letter from Northcote 5 July 1824 asking for the return of some books.

This extended catalogue entry is from the out-of-print National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue: Richard Walker, Regency Portraits, National Portrait Gallery, 1985, and is as published then.
