These 'camera lucida' drawings are related to the marble bust of Peel by Chantrey of 1833, which was included in the Peel Sale, Robinson, Fisher and Harding, 6-7 December 1917 (lot 189), reproduced sale catalogue, facing p 18; this is probably the bust listed in Chantrey's 'Ledger' (MS, Royal Academy), p 230, as commissioned by Aberdeen in 1830, and delivered to Aberdeen in 1834 (price, 150 guineas). Another marble version of 1835 is in the Royal Collection, listed in the 'Ledger', p 264, as begun and finished in 1835.
