A cast made in 1970 from the marble bust in St Olave’s, Hart Street, London, where Mrs Pepys and her husband were buried. The original bust was made in 1672 and, though the sculptor was unspecified, an attribution to John Bushnell has been endorsed by M. Whinney, Sculpture in Britain 1530 to 1830, 1964, R. Gunnis, Dictionary of British Sculptors 1660-1851, 1968 and Katharine Gibson (Oxford Dictionary of National Biography).
