The only known portrait of Price, whose identity rests on the testimony of previous owners; Russell was born in Guildford, where Price conducted his first experiments.

Rev J. Penfold of Croydon,1 by whom presented to the Guildford Institute, Borough Hall, Guildford, 1850;2 purchased from the Guildford Institute 1922.
1 Russell painted a pastel of a Mrs Penfold, c.1780 (G. C. Williamson, John Russell, 1894, p 158) who may, or may not, have been related.
