Inscribed in pencil on backing paper: E Reynolds (perhaps signature), and in modern purple pencil: S W Reynolds/by Elizabeth/Walker.
This portraitback to top
Elizabeth Walker was Reynolds's daughter. The miniature of her father though not an exact copy derives fairly closely from his self-portrait NPG 4989, and in view of her signature on the backing card was probably painted before her marriage to the engraver William Walker in 1829 or 1830.
