In his Account Book Richmond lists this portrait as: 'E (ie engraved) Samuel Rogers Part £26.5.0’. The second instalment and the copyright fee £40 were paid in 1851. The drawing was bequeathed at the same time as the drawing of John Keble, NPG 1043. It is reproduced in Garnett and Gosse, History of English Literature, 1903, IV, p 151, R. Ellis Roberts, Samuel Rogers and his Circle, 1910, frontispiece, and Dyce's Recollections of the Table-Talk of Samuel Rogers, ed. Morchard Bishop, 1952, frontispiece. A small pencil variant, annotated in pencil perhaps by the artist: Saml Rogers. March 8. 1848/from recollection, was in the collection of A. J. Stirling in 1983.
