A version at Knole dated 1701 shows the same head but with the body turned further right with differing drapery; [1] two versions of this Knole composition are recorded: one, differing in the tie of the cravat, engraved by P. A. Gunst c.1709 from a drawing by B. Arlaud (N. Parmentier pinxit 1703), and G. Vertue 1712 (reversed; N. Parmentier pinxit 1701); [2] another, a painted oval surrounded by grotesques (taken from the Description de la Grotte de Versailles 1672), sold Christie’s at Clifton Hampden, 25-26 September 2000, lot 13.
