Half-length to left aged about 40, head turned to right, black coat, white neckcloth and shirt-frill; receding brown hair, green-blue eyes, dark complexion.

Say family possession descending to his son-in-law J. B. Papworth (architect); sold by Mrs Wyatt Papworth at Sotheby's 18 December 1918 (4) bought E. Parsons & Sons and from them by the NPG April 1919.
