One of these drawings, in quarter profile to left, is possibly a study for the head in NPG 391; of the other, profile to left, a variant is in the Athenaeum Club and another version, now in Sir David Scott's collection, was engraved by W. Mayor in 1832 (Graves, p 14, no.163). Other Landseer drawings of Scott are in Scottish NPG (no.140 with Lady Scott, and no.1810 wearing a flat cap), Christie's 15 July 1958 (236) in a lot with 10 other drawings bought by Matthews, and Sotheby's 18 December 1980 (19). There is no indication in any of these of the date they were drawn by Landseer.
A pen and ink drawing formerly called Scott and attributed to Landseer is now classified as 'Unknown Man', see NPG 1650.
