Accompanied in the album by a letter from Scott dated Edinburgh 12 February 1830 thanking Brockedon for his book on 'Passes of the Alps' (printed in J. G. Lockhart, Life of Sir Walter Scott, II, pp 57-8n). The drawing seems to derive loosely from Danforth's line engraving of the oil by C. R. Leslie.
