This drawing agrees much better than the drawing above with authentic portraits of Severn, particularly the Kirkup.
As the Partridge sketch-book contains two drawings by Severn, it seems probable that Partridge did in fact take his likeness. Partridge's style is more mannered than is at first apparent, which makes the problem of identification in this instance extremely difficult.
