Dated by the dress and apparent age of the sitter, NPG 4408 appears not to be by the same hand as the miniature of his son, NPG 4409 (see R. J. B. Walker National Portrait Gallery, Regency Portraits, 1985, I, pp 453-54, II, pl.1093.).
