The drawing is based on Lawrence's portrait of 1828 or one of the engravings therefrom. It is accompained in the Brockedon album by a letter from Soane, 'I wish to have the large paper & proofs if they can be had, Thursday Lincolns Inn Field', presumably referring to an engraving.
