This portrait sketch was published in the folio volume, Garrick Gallery Caricatures (publ.c.1913–16). [1] At the time of the acquisition Spielmann was still alive.
Furniss has observed Spielmann’s typical raised shirt collar and dapper silhouette, but the head is a crudely anti-semitic caricature, not clearly recognizable as the sitter.
