This is a study for Thomas' painting of 'The Marriage of the Prince of Wales, 1863' in the Royal Collection.

Dressed in a white veil, black dress, with white cuffs, the blue sash and star of the order of the Garter, and the badge of the order of Victoria and Albert; holding a white prayer book. Blue curtain in front of the box with gilt fringe and border. Rest of box brown.
