In a letter of 5 July 1925 (NPG archives), the donor sent details of her sister's life and career. The original miniature, of which the NPG miniature is a version, was purchased by Edward VII (memorandum from the donor, NPG archives).

Healthy complexion. Dressed in a black costume and white bonnet. Background colour various tones of mauve, blue, grey, orange, etc.
