Received as by Nicholas Dixon, but convincingly attributed to Richard Gibson by Catharine MacLeod in 1999; it may be compared with the miniature of Bryan Rogers in the Victoria and Albert Museum dated 1673 and similarly reattributed from Dixon to Gibson. [1]
Derived from the three-quarter-length portrait by Lely from the Lee collection, now in the Courtauld Institute galleries, but omitting the right hand at the breast.
