Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini

This is a version of the self portrait in the Uffizi (A679), ordered by Cosimo III de’ Medici in 1717, but dated by Knox c.1722. [1] NPG 5699 shows the eyes more hooded and the face less dramatically lit.
The only other known image of Pellegrini is the rapid chalk and wash drawing in the Städelsche Institut, Frankfurt (1378) [2] which, however, can hardly count as iconographic evidence.
